Manage your mobile phone with Wammu via USB on Ubuntu

Before you can follow this how-to, you must check if your mobile is supported by gammu. You can check it on [1]. For example, with Nokia N95 gammu only can send SMS.

In this example i have used Nokia N95.

[edit] Installing Necessary Packages

Yo should have installed the next packages: gammu and wammu. You can get it from ubuntu repository. You can install it from "Add or Remove Applications" on gnome "Applications" menu or typing in a console:

 sudo apt-get install gammu wammu 

[edit] Plugin the Phone on Ubuntu

Plug in your mobile on your pc using the wired usb, then select "PC Suite".

[edit] Configuring Wammu

Open Wammu in Aplications->Accessories.

Select "Phone Wizard"

Press on "Next" button.

Select "Automatically search for a phone"

Select "USB Cable"

Wait while wammu try to find your mobile.

Select the connection recommended by [2]

Press on "Next" Button

Write a name for the new connection.

Back in wammu, select "phone" menu and "connect"

Now, you can test various functionalities

For example, can try to send sms.
