GNOME Marketing hackfest 2010

Between 3 and May 8 visit Zaragoza international community representatives GNOME Free Software, responsible for the development of desktop and embedded applications bearing the same name. With its President at its head, Vincent Untz, held several internal meetings to discuss issues related to institutional and branding and marketing the project. The marketing group is one of several groups of experts in software that make up the GNOME community, whose legal support is provided by the GNOME Foundation. This community project is one of the oldest and established worldwide and the results of its work, the GNOME desktop, has a wide presence in Spain, such as schools of Extremadura and Andalusia, or the City Council of Zaragoza , which is undergoing a process of migration to free software. There are several multinational companies that distribute and market technology products and services based on GNOME, like many Spanish companies.

The GNOME Marketing Hackfest is a unique opportunity to hear in Spain at some of the main responsible for this free software project.

Attendees will use the occasion to meet with various local entities that have made possible the visit, organized by CESLA ( Clúster de entidades pro sw. libre de Aragón), and collaborating "el Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón", ITA, "la Federación Nacional de Empresas de Software Libre" ASOLIF, the City of Zaragoza and the Aragon Government through "la Dirección General de Tecnologías para la Sociedad de la Información".

In addition to attending meetings and other enforceable to the organizers, will be held on Friday (May 7) from 10 a.m. until 14 p.m.( spanish time ), at the facilities of the ITA in the Campus Rio Ebro (C / María de Luna 8) Saragossa, a public event in which, through various talks by several prominent members of the GNOME Community and local expert companies , will be known the benefits of community development in a general way, and the progress and developments in the desktop and the GNOME Community in particular.
